A Maranza 23° edizione della Gitschberg Start Cup, "antipasto" della stagione 2014/15 - 23rd Gitschberg Start Cup in Meransen, "appetizer" of 2014/15 season

Sabato 30 agosto si è svolta a Maranza (BZ - ITA) l'ormai tradizionale Start Cup, primo test internazionale della stagione.

Negli anni olimpici, questa manifestazione vive veri e propri exploit, con l'afflusso di quasi tutti i protagonisti dell'imminente coppa del mondo.
Quest'edizione "post-olimpica", comunque, ha visto in gara i componenti della Nazionale Italiana (sia senior sia junior) oltre ad atleti provenienti da Austria, Germania e Stati Uniti.

La terza disciesa vincente del doppio Rieder/Rastner

Dopo tre anni di dominio assoluto sia nella gara individuale sia nel doppio, Ludwig Rieder ha dovuto cedere lo scettro nel singolo a Dominik Fischnaller, che ha mostrato ulteriori progressi in questa cruciale fase di gara, in cui negli anni scorsi si era distinto meno che in fase di guida.
Gli ottimi tempi fatti segnare dai due atleti di casa sono un incoraggiante segnale per l'imminente stagione invernale, tenendo anche conto del fatto che, alle loro spalle, si è piazzato quel Wolfgang Kindl, che l'anno scorso ha sorpreso tanti osservatori inanellando alcuni ottimi risultati in Coppa del Mondo.

Forse al di sopra delle aspettative a livello cronometrico, il risultato di Greta Pinggera, esordiente sulla pista artificiale. Certo, una buona spinta non dà certezze di performanza su piste lunghe oltre 1000 mt, ma i risultati si costruiscono un passo alla volta ed un inizio positivo è certamente di buon auspicio.

Finita la gara, un folto gruppo di bambini ha provato con entusiasmo alcune discese, con le competenti istruzioni e l'esperta supervisione della Campionessa Olimpica e Responsabile del settore giovanile e del vivaio della Nazionale, Gerda Weissensteiner.

Colpisce anche un occhio distratto l'altissima percentuale di componenti della Nazionale Italiana provenienti da questo angolo di Val Pusteria. Motivo principale di tale fenomeno è senza alcun dubbio proprio la presenza di questa piccolissima pista (45 metri più altrettanti per tornare indietro) attiva appena una settimana d'estate e qualcuna in più d'inverno. L'unica pista di slittino attualmente attiva in Italia.

During the Olympic years, this event lives real exploits with the influx of almost all the protagonists of the forthcoming World Cup.

However this "post-Olympic" edition saw the participation of the National Italian Team (both junior and senior) as well as of athletes from Austria, Germany and United States.

The third winning run of the double Rieder/Rastner

After three years of absolute dominance both in the single and in the double, Ludwig Rieder had to give up the single's scepter to Dominik Fischnaller, which showed further progress in this crucial phase of the race, in which in past years he had distinguished less than in the driving phase.

The excellent times set by the two home athletes are an encouraging sign for the upcoming winter season, also taking into account the fact that, behind them, has finished third Wolfgang Kindl, who last year surprised many observers, getting some good results in the World Cup.

Perhaps above the expectations, the chronometric result of Greta Pinggera, newcomer on the artificial track. Sure, a good push doesn't give any certainty about the performance on tracks longer than 1,000 mt, but the results are built one step at a time and a positive start is certainly auspicious.

After the race, a large group of children has tested with enthusiasm some descents, with the competent instructions and the expert supervision of the Olympic Champion and Head of the youth sector and of the vivarium of the Italian National Team, Gerda Weissensteiner.

The very high percentage of members of the Italian National Team that comes from this corner of Puster Valley affects also a distracted eye. The main reason for this phenomenon is without doubt the presence of this small track  (45 mt. and almost the same to come back), active just a week during the summer and a few more in winter. The only luge track currently active in Italy.
