Oggi, durante un'affollatissima conferenza stampa allo Spazio Theca di Milano, il più grande slittinista della storia ha annunciato la fine della sua lunga carriera agonistica. La medaglia di bronzo alle Olimpiadi di Sochi è stato il suo ultimo sigillo come atleta.
Alla conferenza stampa hanno preso parte il presidente FISI Flavio Roda e il vice direttore generale del CONI Carlo Mornati, che hanno avuto parole di gratitudine per Armin per tutto quello che ha fatto come atleta e tutto quello che potrà fare come tecnico, supportando la squadra intera con la sua esperienza e le sue conoscenze tecniche.
Il Carabiniere di Foiana ha detto che, nella sua carriera guidata dalla passione, il successo cui è più affezionato è stato l'oro olimpico di Torino 2006.
Zöggeler non designa un solo erede, ma ha fiducia nella squadra in cui sono "pochi ma buoni". Nel singolo punta su Dominik Fischnaller e Emanuel Rieder, nel doppio su Rieder/Rastner, ma anche sugli esperti Oberstolz/Gruber.
Lui, in accordo con l'Arma, la FISI, i tecnici e gli allenatori resterà in squadra curando uno degli aspetti più complicati: lo sviluppo dei materiali. Speriamo che il suo talento e la sua grande esperienza aiutino la nostra Nazionale a colmare il divario dalla Germania, dominatrice indiscussa degli ultimi giochi olimpici.
Today, during a crowded press conference at the Spazio Theca in Milan, the gratest luger in history announced the end of his long agonistic career. The bronze medal won during the Sochi Olympic Games has been his last succes as an athlete.
The President of FISI, Flavio Roda and the Vice-general Director of CONI, Carlo Mornati took part in the press conference. They both expressed words of gratitude to Armin, for all he has made as an athlete and for all he will be able doing as a technician, supporting the whole team with his experience and his technical knowledges.
The Carabiniere of Foiana has told that in his career driven by passion, the success he loves more is the Olympic gold of Torino 2006.
Zöggeler doesn't nominated one heir, but he trusts in the team made of "a few but good" athletes. In the single he points the attention on Dominik Fischnaller and Emanuel Rieder, in double on Rieder/Rastner, but also on the experts Oberstolz/Gruber.
He will stay in the team taking after one of the most complicated subjects: the materials' development, in agreement with the Carabinieri, the FISI, the technicians and the trainers.
We hope that his talent and his great experience will help the Italian team filling the gap from Germany, who dominated the last Olympics in Sochi.
