Pochi giorni dopo la conferma ufficiale delle convocazioni da parte del Coni e della Fisi, gli slittinisti azzurri sono partiti per la Corea del Sud, dove venerdì 9 si apriranno i XXIII Giochi Olimpici Invernali.
La formazione convocata dal D.T. Armin Zöggeler è sicuramente la più giovane vista nelle recenti edizioni olimpiche. Basti pensare che il "veterano" è Ludwig Rieder, appena ventiseienne.
La squadra olimpica si è delineata in modo piuttosto rocambolesco durante la stagione e la sua composizione definitiva è stata stabilita durante la 6a tappa della Coppa del Mondo di Königssee, quando lo staff tecnico ha deciso la dolorosa esclusione degli esperti Christian Oberstolz e Patrick Gruber a favore dei sorprendenti giovani Ivan Nagler e Fabian Malleier.
Questi ultimi, laureatisi oggi Campioni del Mondo Junior ad Altenberg, partiranno per PyeongChang solo giovedì prossimo, dopo alcuni meritati giorni di riposo.

A few days after the official confirmation of the convocations by the Coni and the Fisi, the azzurri lugers left for South Korea, where the XXIII Winter Olympic Games will open on Friday 9th.
The formation convened by the T.D. Armin Zöggeler is certainly the youngest seen in the recent Olympic events. Suffice it to say that the "veteran" is Ludwig Rieder, just twenty-six years old.
The Olympic team was outlined in a rather unpredictable way during the season and its definitive composition was established during the 6th stage of the World Cup in Königssee, when the technical staff decided the painful exclusion of the experts Christian Oberstolz and Patrick Gruber in favor of the amazing youngsters Ivan Nagler and Fabian Malleier.
This duo, who graduated today Junior World Champions in Altenberg, will leave for PyeongChang only next Thursday, after a few well-deserved days off.
